There are cycles all around us that influence our lives. The seasons, years, months, weeks and days to name but a few. On a personal level there are three main cycles that, according to some beliefs, can be studied to advantage.

These cycles are called biorhytms and start from the moment we are born. From this point they start to rise this is the active phase. It reaches a peak 1/4 way through the cycle then falls back to zero level half way through the cycle. From this point the cycle is said to be in the passive phase as it continues on in a negative direction. Three quarters of the way through the cycle is the lowest point where it the starts to rise up to zero again. The point where the cycles cross the main axis are called critical days.

Stages of the cycles

Active phase In this phase of the cycle the abilities associated with that cycle are high.
Passive phase In this phase associated abilities are diminished.
Critical days The cycle crosses the zero axis from active to passive. Associated abilities are unstable. These are the days that we need to consider. Judgments can be impaired. Our pain threshold can be reduced. Our emotions can be unsettled.
Zero days Much like critical days but not quite as unsettled as these are the days we move from a passive stage to an active stage. Care is still need to be used on these days.
Double critical days
Double zero days
Two cycles are passing through the zero point. Special consideration may be needed on the these days. Two of our life cycles are unstable.
Triple critical days
Triple zero days
All three cycles are unstable - need more be said? Possibly a good day to stay in bed! Don't get many of these in a lifetime but they can occur.
Zero days Much like critical days but not quite as unsettled as these are the days we move from a passive stage to an active stage. Care is still need to be used on these days.
High peaks These are the points where we are at best with the related abilities.
Low points The passive phase does not mean a bad phase. It is just harder to do well in the associated areas.

The cycles

Emotional 28 days Our moods, mental stability and sensitivity are the focus of this cycle.
Physical 23 days Relates to all things physical. General energy levels, resistance to pain, resistance to infection.
Intellectual 33 days This cycle affects our learning ability, logical thinking and decision making skills.

It may be worth using these cycles to plot the days we are best equipped to deal with our phobia and arrange for treatment on those days. These are days when the Phsical and Emotional cycles are both in the active phase.
