Affirmations are confident positive statements that are designed to change the way we think or feel. There is a lot of power in thoughts. It is after all negative thoughts or emotions that prevent you from attending the dentist. Negative thoughts like:-

  • "I can't go to the dentist

  • "I would not be able to go to the dentist because......"

  • "I would not be able to go to the dentist because......"

  • "I would not be able to cope with......"

prevent you from making any progress. Your sub-conscious mind, that powerful controlling force believes those things because you do. You believe it because your sub-conscious mind tells you so. Sounds like a contradiction but really it is the chicken and egg syndrome.

Something that happened in the past set the seeds of doubt in your sub-conscious mind starting the vicious circle. Your reactions to that event and subsequent negative thoughts about that event perpetuate the fear.

So how do you break free?

Change the way you think. Reprogram your sub-conscious mind. Make it believe what YOU want it to.

Start to control you life - not be controlled by the past.

The past has gone - you cannot change that but you can change your future. All you need to do is BELIEVE that you can.

Affirmations are a positive way to affect this change. Instead of saying "I can not" say "I can". If you say it often enough you will start to believe it.

You can make up your own affirmations as you know where changes need to be made. All you need is to want to change the way you feel. If you are searching for a way to beat you phobia affirmations may be a good starting point.

Suggested affirmations:-

  • I am able to take control of my life.

  • I am at peace with myself, the world and everyone in it..

  • I can beat this Phobia.

  • I can choose the thoughts I have.

Make up your own affirmations. Repeat them often, just before you fall asleep is a good time, and believe them.
