IMPORTANT-Read this first

Acupressure like acupuncture is an ancient healing art. In both cases key points on the body are used to stimulate the bodies self-healing abilities. The main difference is that acupuncture uses needles whereas with acupressure the fingers press the key points. Much better if you have a needle phobia!

There are certain points that could be of use if you are suffering from from toothache . The idea is to use finger pressure directly on the point. Pressure is applied gradually and is somewhere between pleasant pressure and pain.

If you are an expectant mother don't try any of these.

There are points at the bottom of the cheek bones directly below the pupil. There is also a point directly in front of the ear opening in the depression that deepens when you open your mouth and points half an inch above and below the latter.

On the back of the ankle midway between the inside of the anklebone and the tendon.

Put your thumb and forefinger together and find the highest point of the muscle between them. Applying pressure to this point can help relieve toothache also.

Let me stress this information is only supplied to give you an idea of what can help when you are suffering. There are numerous books available that will enable you to find out more about the points mentioned above. Acupressure can help relieve toothache .... I have used it myself. Give it a try!

Maybe you could make it a target on your road to overcoming your phobia that you consult an acupressure specialist. Explain that you know your teeth need attention and that the acupressure is not a replacement for treatment. You just want to make the pain go away without resorting to tablets all the time ... it must be better for you.

I know it won't be easy. The road to overcoming your phobia isn't but remember.

If you truly believe you can overcome your fears you are halfway to doing so.
